Get experience in repairing of water heaters in Naperville. If you are willing to following these three easy steps annually with your water heater, you will have nice warm water to bathe in and clean with year round. These steps are, dial down the temperature, test the temperature and relief valve, and do a mini flush. We will go ahead and look at each one of these steps a bit further so read on.

In order to dial down the temperature on your water heater all you will need to do is to go to the temperature dial setting and look for either a knob on the gas valve or a thermostat behind and electric water heater panel. Next you will dial the temperature setting until it is between 115 and 120 degrees. After you have done this your water heater will be protected from overheating and will reduce the energy used to heat the water.

Next on your list of annual maintenance tips for your water heater is to test the temperature and relief valve. This valve is critical to safety and proper operation of your water heater. It is not a complicated valve and is very easy for you to check. All you will need to do to check the temperature and relief valve is to lift up on the lever and let it quickly snap back into place. Listen for a gurgling sound as the valve lets some water to be released into the drain tube. If you do not hear this gurgling sound then you know that the valve is bad and needs to be replaced.

Next you should do a mini flush on your water heater. This flush is important because it will help to remove any sediment that has collected at the bottom of the tank and can help to prevent it from rusting. A full flush is really the best way to go, but all you have to do is this mini flush. First you should place a bucket under the drain valve and then turn it counterclockwise to flush out a few gallons of water into the bucket. Next you simply turn the valve back the way it was and drain the bucket.
