Considerations When Upgrading To Automated Bagging Machines

One of the complaints that is good for a business to have is that their current system of bagging can’t keep up with production demands. This shows that the business is in a growth cycle, which in itself is a good thing.

Finding an automated bagging machine to keep up with increasing demand will be the next step in being able to boost production. Keep in mind, bagging machines or any other machine on the line can be the limiting factor in production. The fastest the line can produce is to the highest capacity of each piece of equipment, with the lowest capacity equipment setting the rate.

In addition to the rate of bagging offered, which will typically be in bags or pouches per minute, other features and functions should always be considered. Not all equipment is the right option or any specific production facility or line. This also means that in large companies there may be the need for different types of bagging machines based on specific production requirements.

Physical Size

For an existing production line, choosing new automated equipment needs to consider with regards to the physical space present. In most production facilities, there will be finite space available. If it is possible to find a bagging machine that will fit into the allotted space, it will decrease the time needed for installation and calibration.

When parts of the system need to be reconfigured or modified for the machine, there is an increase in downtime for the installation as well as an increase in costs.

Features to Consider

From manual or semi-automatic bagging machines to fully automated systems is an opportunity to add on features. This can include options such as date code printers, gas injection systems, product settlers as well as the option to use a zipper opener system, all which offer additional benefits to current packaging options.
