Everyone has had a moment of concern and occasionally even panic when it comes to being sick and needing to go see a doctor. Just how sick are you? Emergency department staff members are competent and capable, but the fact remains that it is full of very sick people. Regardless of the competence of the staff, you are still likely to be exposed to something while there. If you are not facing a true emergency, it is best to avoid it if at all possible. Another, and perhaps sometimes better, alternative would be to go to an Urgent Care in Maui instead. An Urgent Care Center is staffed with doctors and nurses as well, just like the Emergency Room is. They are equipped to deal with many everyday illnesses and problems. Many times, you can be seen much more quickly at an Urgent Care Center than you can at an Emergency Room, simply because they are not typically as busy. They don’t have the same hours as an Emergency Room, however, so if you are facing the choose outside of normal business hours, you may have no alternative but to go to the Emergency Room.
But if the Urgent Care in Maui is an option, you have to decide if it’s the right one. What if you are traveling and unfamiliar with an area? An Urgent Care Clinic is a good alternative if you are unable to wait to see your own doctor, but feel that the Emergency Room may not be the best choice either. If you’re not sure whether the Urgent Care or an Emergency Room is the best option for you, you can always try the Urgent Care first. If the situation warrants it, the doctors and nurses there will contact a local Emergency Room or ambulance service and send you for additional or more advance help than they are able to provide.
