Ah, the holidays, the only three months out of the year where you can gorge yourself on as many unhealthy treats as you can fit in your mouth, and no one will judge you because anyone who would is fighting over the last turkey leg. But maybe you’ve actually grown to like the lack of fat on your bones, and want to hold onto it without necessarily passing on that delicious food. If you live in Boca Raton, and are looking for ways to keep fit over the holiday season, be sure to follow these special tips.
#1. Always Keep Moving
With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it’s easy to find the idea of just dedicating a day to taking a breather incredibly tempting. But if you have time to sit down, you have time to get moving, especially if you just finished downing an entire plate of fruitcake. Within reason, of course, if you really are feeling stuffed, that jog can wait for an hour while the food settles. But always make sure to jog at least a mile a day.
#2. Morning Workouts
Early in the morning is the best time to exercise in general, and during the holidays more so. If you have a busy schedule for the rest of the day, it’s a pain to try and work in a tiring jog into that and still be ready for whatever you had to push back for it. Unless you’re making a long car ride, nobody expects you to be anywhere but in bed early in the morning, so use that time to work off yesterday’s food.
#3. Go Easy on Yourself
If you miss just one day, or indulge in one stuffed turkey, or spend one day relaxing and taking it easy, do not feel ashamed. The holidays are the most hectic months of the year, and everyone deserves a rest, especially those trying to get into shape on top of it all. Always set aside time for a break, and allow yourself a snack every once in a while. One chocolate bar between celery sticks isn’t going to undo everything. This is pretty high on every fitness trainers’ priority list: take a break.
Keeping fit over the holidays isn’t as hard as it may seem from the outset. It’s just a matter of keeping a good schedule, remembering to eat right, and treating yourself only on special occasion, no different from a usual routine of staying healthy. Ask one of the qualified personal trainers in Boca Raton if you need more ideas.
