4 Easy Ways to Prepare Your Round Cake Pan

Use round cake pans with care. If you need it for your next baking session, here are a few tips to help you prepare the pan.

Get it right

Don’t just blindly use the pans with little to no regard on how to prepare it. Otherwise, you’ll end up with bad baking results. Get it right so you won’t have to worry about your cakes coming out looking less than perfect.

Use parchment paper

You’ll need to cut a square parchment paper. Make sure it’s bigger than your pan. Fold it into a triangle, then into quarters then into half. Then fold in half again, and you should end up with a narrow triangle. Once that’s done, put the narrow point of the triangle in the center of the pan. Measure and mark the edge, then cut at your mark. That should give you a circle that fits into inside your pan. For less misery, though, you can always just trace the bottom of your cake pan onto the parchment paper, Real Simple suggests.

Butter and line the pan

Use a pastry brush to apply soft butter on the bottom and sides of your round cake pans. A pastry brush will do. Then line the prepared round of parchment paper. If you see any bubbles or creases, smooth them out. Apply another layer of butter over the paper once it’s in place.

Use flour

Use a couple of tablespoons of flour and shake that over the pan until the interior is evenly coated. Then dump the excess flour. If you’re making a chocolate cake, though, you’ll be better off dusting the pan with cocoa powder instead.
