Four Widely Used Varieties Of Insulation

Insulation Chesterfield can be found in several varieties, all of which help homes maintain their energy efficiency and steady interior temperatures. The protective materials used in insulating are placed in walls, attics, floors and crawlspaces to cover the spaces between support beams and for closing off any openings left around plumbing, duct work and electrical outlets.

The soft, feathery variety of Insulation Chesterfield most commonly used and easily recognized is known as blanket insulation. Made of fiberglass or rockwool, blanket insulation performs its duties by trapping air within its fibers to slow the loss of heat or cool air from inside the home, as well preventing exterior air from entering. Blanket insulation can be purchased in pre-cut batts that fit most standard spaces or in rolls that must be cut to the required size.

Insulation is also available in a blown in variety made of cellulose and fiberglass blocks. The blocks of Insulation Chesterfield are crushed by a machine called an insulation blower. Once they have been crushed, the insulation is blown through a hose into the areas in need of insulation. Blown in insulation can easily fill gaps around pipes, electrical wiring and duct work, that can not be reached by other types of insulation.

Spray foam Insulation Chesterfield is becoming increasingly popular because it is simple to install. The spray foam is made of chemicals that are kept separate until ready to be used. When ready to spray, the chemicals are heated and combined before being expelled from a hose. As the combined chemicals come in contact with a surface, they begin to expand and solidify. Spray foam insulation works well on both flat surfaces and in gaps and holes.

The final variety of Home Insulation is foam board insulation. Sold in firm, compact sheets, this insulation is typically used on the exterior of homes and in basements due to its semi-permeable nature. Foam board insulation allows moisture to pass through, preventing the growth of mold and the onset of decay.

These four types of insulation can be used separately or in varying combinations to increase the energy efficiency of a structure. Adequate insulation can help regulate the temperature inside a home or other building and will effectively lower heating and cooling costs.
