You would think that with all the talk about guns in the media, that the laws governing the gun industry have become stricter, but that is not the case. As a matter of fact, there are some misnomers that have been implied in the media when actually, the laws concerning guns and their owners have actually been lifted in many cases. If you are intimidated to go to a Gun Shop Reno because of the restrictions, don’t be. Go and ask how you can safely own guns for your own protection.
There are laws that are adhered to for owning guns that the general public may not know about. While some courts may be asking for the banning of gun ownership altogether, both state and federal laws have become more relaxed over the years in regards to ownership. As a matter of fact, there are only two states in the country that ban the privilege of owning a carry and conceal permit. In all states there are regulations as to how you can carry legally, although they differ in how you can obtain a permit.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or better know as the ATF for short, keeps a record of all gun owners and the serial numbers of the guns they own. This list however, is not available to the public and it is also not accessible by the law enforcement. When a crime is committed the database is searched by the ATF on the history of the gun, but there are no comparisons of records processed. The ATF does not conduct studies with the information as it strictly there to catalog ownership.
Often times, the people who know how to use guns are the ones targeted to more restrictions. In the media you would be led to believe that a military person is not allowed to purchase guns for personal use but that is not the case. Even after the Fort Hood shooting at the end of 2009, there are no additional regulations put on military personnel to protect themselves the same way civilians would.
