Heating and cooling your home can be more important than you think. Extreme temperatures can cause illnesses, exacerbate diseases and in some cases result in death. Even incomplete heating or cooling such as that from a portable heater or A/C can be a problem because you leave hot or cold spots in the home. Plus, treating the air in your home in this way can cause you to waste a lot of money on higher utility bills. The solution in many cases is an appliance called an HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning).
The HVAC contractor in Waterloo will install several components to make this unit complete. First, there is the exterior cabinet that houses a coil, a fan, a condensing unit and various circuitry. The equipment in this cabinet condenses or compresses the refrigerant and pushes it through the HVAC coolant lines. The external coil is used to cycle any gathered heat outdoors and release it into the air with a little help from the fan. The electronics typically control the cycling of the condensing unit and power to the fan. For most HVAC systems the condenser requires a two hundred and twenty volt power supply installed before the HVAC is put in place.
Second, and even more important is the internal cabinet. This unit houses the heating portion of the system along with an evaporator coil and blower fan. This combination allows the same fan to heat and cool the home by circulating air through an exchange system. Inside this air exchanger is the evaporator coil that picks up residual heat from the home and transfers it to the refrigerant. This collection of heat chills the coil so the air that is forced through it can cool the home. This is where these systems got the nickname of forced air.
The final pieces that the HVAC contractor will install are the ducts that connect the various rooms to the HVAC itself. If the system is a replacement then these ducts will already exist. However, it is possible that these air ducts are too old or are damaged and need replacement. Determining any requirements like these are part of the job of experienced contractors such as Harster Heating & Air Conditioning. Their technicians can quickly discern any requirements your HVAC installation may need.
