When it comes to the perfect pool deck; the greatest majority of pool owners point to three things; durability, non-slip and great looking. As travertine pavers have all three of these features it is no surprise that they have become a very popular choice.

There is a bonus as well when you specify travertine pavers; they don’t get as hot as other material so they are a lot easier on the feet.

What is travertine? Travertine has a number of similarities to marble and limestone. The material has been in use for centuries, for a matter of fact the Roman Coliseum is built primarily of travertine. Travertine is available in a host of colors which include umber, ivory, walnut and gold. Travertine is readily available in three grades; premium, standard and commercial. The higher the grade the more expensive but that should come as no surprise.

The advantages of travertine pavers: The biggest advantages of travertine are:

  • Attractive: The material looks classy because it is; it is a material that is just as much at home in a modern home as it is in a period property.

  • Non-slip: Travertine pavers are actually porous and the material tends to absorb water rather than it pool on the surface.

  • Easy to replace: If a paver is damaged it can easily be lifted and another one set in its place. The material has a tendency to hold color, therefore there is less concern that a new paver won’t match.

  • Heat resistant: As mentioned, travertine does not get overly hot, this makes it far more comfortable when walking bare footed.

Once you have invested in an inground pool it stands to reason that you will be spending a great deal of quality time around it. Travertine pavers have a lot going for them; it is well worth the little extra for the upgrade. Visit StoneHardscapes, LLC.
