For a retailer, a garage or workshop owner as well as for a home hobbyist or do-it-yourselfer, finding a way to organize your space can be challenging. This is particularly true if you have a lot of tools or if your supplies and materials are odd or unusual shapes and sizes.
Storage Options
One option is to create racks and storage shelves, but this can make it difficult to find smaller parts and materials among larger objects. For retailers, those storage racks and shelves are constant sources of a mess, requiring staff to continually need to straight up the inventory after each customer.
A better option for any type of project, material, tool or component that can hang is to create a T channel wall. There are several different ways to do this, but using the aluminum t-slot will provide a flexible, durable and solid option for configuring any space and keeping things visible and organized.
Inset or Surface Mounted
T channel or t-slot can be square, offering all four sides with the groove down the center that allows a hex nut or T-slot component to slide up and down. It can also be designed with just one T and a flat back and sides for inserting into wood, creating a flush surface with the wood for the track.
Either option can be used on a wall for hanging tools, packages, pouches, display items or anything else you choose. As the T channel is attached to the wood through countersunk screws, this is a very strong and durable option, particularly when inset.
With this system, any shape of object can easily placed on the wall. The hangers, which can be hex nuts, can be slid along the track for the correct spacing. Additionally, since there is no need to drill holes or use nails in the backboard when using T channel, everything stays looking like new even with ongoing reconfigurations.
