The Benefits of Using an Immediate Care Centre

When you have a medical emergency, but it isn’t something that requires the attention of a surgeon, then going to the emergency room may not be in your best interest. Emergency rooms across the country are known for their slow treatment times as well as their high costs. However, there is an alternative for people who live throughout the Midwest. The next time you need medical care and you can’t wait for a doctor’s appointment or a trip to the emergency room, consider the services of an Immediate Care centre.

Immediate care centers offer you the option of seeing a doctor or a nurse in a low key environment without an appointment. Like a hospital and many doctor’s offices, these centers have access to x-ray machines, labs, EKG machines and more. You don’t have to worry about having to be sent elsewhere to get an x-ray if, for example, you suspect that you’ve fractured or broken a bone. Additionally, you can get your lab work back on the same day due to their in-house labs.

Another thing that an Immediate Care centre has to offer is a place for you to get the shots that you need. Whether you want a flu shot during the winter or you need a TB shot for school or work, you can get this done at one of these facilities – again, without an appointment.

Some immediate care centers are trying to help people with pain management as well. When you have chronic pain, or you’re suffering from post-op pain, it can be difficult to see your primary care physician as often as you need. When you notice that your pain meds or treatments aren’t working, you can visit one of these centers on the same day you realize you need help – something that is often impossible at many doctor’s offices.

Lastly, you’ll want to know that immediate care centers do usually accept insurance. If you don’t have insurance, you can pay yourself and you’ll find that the costs are much less expensive than visiting a hospital. If you want your insurance to pay, however, make sure that you call in advance and ask if they take your insurance.
